Slow return home from the East coast.

After a successful XCONUS trip, we car toured our way back through National Parks , visiting friends & relatives, and other high points.  Now back home, and getting in to the routine, again.

Used the Senior Pass at Devils Tower, Yellowstone, and Craters of the Moon.  Didn't need it , or wasn't accepted at Arcadia nor Mt Rushmore.

A couple days in DC, we got treated to Wolftrap for a performance of Firebird. Next day was to see Dusty Baker's Nationals play a home game.

Drove through Virginia, then across Tennessee with a break in Nashville and went through the Johnny Cash museum.  Rest of the day was to drive to the motel across the street from Graceland.

Next morning, went through the Graceland tour, complex.

Back in the car through Little Rock and a turn north through Bentonville into Missouri.  Turned west again to cross the state line into Kansas, to stay with some relatives of my wife.

I've started my cross country adventure, now WA is in the rear view mirror

Cape Flattery to Discovery Bay to Port Townsend ferry to Coupeville to Mt Vernon to Marblemount over Rainey Pass and Washington Pass to Winthrop over Loup Loup Pass to Tonasket then over Sherman Pass to Colville then over an unnamed high point to get to Tiger turn north to Ione and then head south along the Pend Oriell River to Newport.    There's more detail on my CrazyGuyOnABike webpage:  at http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/XCONUS hope to see you there.  It has the advantage of easier posting of updates by text, email and adding photos, too.
Today is my first rest day, staying with a friend in Spokane, WA, about 60 miles off my route from Newport.

Content may be a bit slow for awhile

I've decided to use the CrazyGuyOnABike website for journaling my cross CONUS bike ride that should now start in 8 days.  I'll link to it on this site, as it gets closer.  Making preparations by assembling and buying some spare parts (tires, cables, brake pads, etc.)

preparations have begun for the CONUS crossing

Back from the Southern Hemisphere, and away from winter for 5 weeks.  Now getting prepared for crossing the US on my own power.  Measuring up the car to see about using it where motels are not available.  Also how to carry a sleeping platform, clothing, food and food preparation stuff, things for  Helene to do on the way, and occasionally carry my bike (like at the end).
